Judith Belzer

Judith Belzer, born in Chicago in 1956, studied literature at Barnard College and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1979. She began painting in earnest while attending The New York Studio School 1980-81. Belzer lived and worked for many years on the East Coast, first in New York City and then in New England, before moving to Berkeley, California, in 2003. Although her painting often dwells on the edge between abstraction and representation, Belzer’s work always engages with the natural world. Her work invites the viewer to consider nature up close, as an active and dynamic force in our everyday lives. Belzer’s paintings are shown regularly across the country, in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and L.A.
