Donna Brookman makes paintings, books, and prints that explore “the elusive space between representation and abstraction” (Greenblatt). Her paintings create a dematerialized world, suggestive of landscape, but rhythmically organized and inherently musical in nature. Brookman is a long-time resident of Berkeley, California, and holds a BA from UC Berkeley and an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently in solo exhibitions at 5+5 Gallery in Brooklyn and Thomas Paul Fine Art in Los Angeles. An upcoming solo exhibition entitled fullflood is scheduled for early 2013 at Thomas Paul Fine Art, Los Angeles.
